Moremi Crossing Overview
Moremi Crossing, Okavango Delta
Staying at Moremi Crossing means you are staying in the heart of the world-famous Okavango Delta, which in turn is the true and wild heart of Africa. The rustic but yet comfortable camp is located on a remote island surrounded by the seasonal floodplains of the Delta. Prepare yourself for an unfathomable diversity of flora and fauna in this untouched wilderness. Spend your days on game drives or guided bush walks to get up close to elephants, buffalos, hippos, crocodiles and many more. Alternatively, you can silently float down the channels in a mokoro, a traditional canoe carved out of wood – perfect for birding.
The 16 tents perfectly combine safari simplicity and basic comfort, while the main building features a large deck overlooking the Boro River and famous Chief’s Island. Expect beautiful sightings of large elephant bulls wading through the shallow water with the backdrop of palm-fringed islands and lush vegetation.

Moremi Crossing Activities
Mokoro Excursions
Become part of the bustling river life by easing between the papyrus clad banks on traditional ‘mokoro’ canoes. These are propelled from the stern by skilled ‘poler’ guides, allowing the guests to sit back and absorb the scenery. For full day trips, Gunn’s Camp prepares delicious picnic lunches which can be enjoyed on a Delta island after an exhilarating bush walk.
Bush Walks
Explore the wilderness on foot under the guidance and education of your own personal guide. Feel your senses ignite as you become part of life in the bush and encounter game without the parameters of a vehicle.
Island Camping
The camp managers will pack your mokoro with basic camping equipment and food so that you can set out with your own personal guide to find an island where you will set up camp. The evening will be spent preparing dinner around the campfire in the company of Africa’s nocturnal wildlife. This rustic experience is subject to availability, and must be pre-booked in advance.
Motor-Boat Sunset Cruises
A great way to explore the crystal clear channels of the Boro River. Motor-boat cruises are organised in time to toast the unprecedented African sunsets while drifting on a lagoon in the middle of the Okavango Delta. Watch as the mutating colours are reflected in the smooth waters, disturbed only by dipping swallows or curious hippos. (Gunn’s Main Camp only, unless by prior arrangement and subject to delta water levels)
