Description
Ilala Lodge Overview
Ilala Lodge is one of the most conveniently located hotels in Victoria Falls. It is situated in the town centre, close to the waterfalls and nestled in beautiful lush gardens. Once you’ve stepped onto the park-like grounds, you feel like you are in a remote hotel resort in the middle of the bush, but yet only a few minutes away from all the activities Victoria Falls has to offer – a tour of the falls, helicopter flights, dinner cruises on the Zambezi or a tram ride over Victoria Falls bridge, just to name a few. The hotel facilities include a large swimming pool, a terrace and several hidden gems to relax and have some privacy.
Locals say Ilala’s very own Palm Restaurant serves some of the best food in town – from here guests can watch the mist of the famous waterfalls or listen to the thundering sound of this natural wonder. Should you want to try something new, take a walk to Dean’s for good coffee just around the corner or the local hangout Three Monkeys for a great vibe.
If you feel you would like to explore more of Victoria Falls we recommend an evening at the Boma for a dinner and drum show or alternatively, a dinner cruise which combines a sunset cruise with a four course dinner.

THE RA-IKANE 5-STAR LUXURY SUNSET CRUISES
The Ra-Ikane, the only one of its kind in Victoria Falls, is a small luxury cruise boat that is outfitted to suggest the elegant ambiance of a bygone era. The vessel was built to replicate the ‘Ma-Robert’, Dr David Livingstone’s boat. This cruise boat is exclusive, personalised and designed to complement your stay with us.
Period décor, historic memorabilia, fine cuisine and refreshments characterise a level of comfort and grace unsurpassed on the Zambezi.
ELEPHANT RIDES & LION WALKS
Lion walks are available in the mornings and afternoons on a private estate. The safari includes walking with these majestic animals as part of their pre-release training and funds go directly to the African Lion Rehabilitation & Release into the Wild Program.
Either breakfast or lunch & refreshments are included.
SIGHTSEEING & CULTURAL
You can either take a 2-hour guided tour of the Victoria Falls to learn about the history from an experienced local guide, or you can opt to walk to the town and explore what it has to offer on your own.
Alternatively, visit our croc farm and witness how crocodiles are reared from eggs to fully-grown adults. The eggs hatch in about December or January, so if you are here in those months, ask to see them. Feeding times are a highlight and we recommend taking a guided tour with one of our experienced guides to observe this exciting event. Feeding time is at 10.15am to 10.30am, and 3.45pm to 4.00pm daily.
The nature sanctuary has many species of interest, including lion, and there is a full leather workshop that sells its goods on-site, as well as in our curio shop located at the lodge itself.
SCENIC FLIGHTS
View the spectacular falls from the air with either a short, or extended, flight over the Victoria Falls and Batoka Gorges.
ADRENALIN ACTIVITIES
To get your heart racing, try out either the 111m Bungee Jump off the world-famous Victoria Falls Bridge, or take the plunge and test the Gorge Swing and Zip Line.
The legendary railway bridge is an integral part of any Victoria Falls experience. Learn its fascinating history with an entertaining, theatrical presentation about the bridge and the men who built it. Take advantage of the rare opportunity to walk on the catwalks beneath the bridge, which were used in the original construction in 1904.
GAME VIEWING ACTIVITIES
3-hour game drives are available in the mornings and afternoons. Full day trips include a game-viewing cruise, lunch and a game drive. You may also choose a 4-hour game drive that includes a 3-course dinner and refreshments on a private reserve.
