Description
Hotel Dona Ana Overview
The Hotel Dona Ana is perched on a narrow horn on the Vilanculos harbor in Mozambique, just minutes away from the Vilanculos International Airport. The hotel is surrounded on both sides by ocean. Her windows look out onto the splendor of Mozambiques Bazaruto Archipelago.
The legend of the Hotel Dona Ana
There are two sides to every distinctive woman – the passionate lover and the perfect lady. When Senhor Alves fell under the spell of the beautiful Dona Ana, he was entranced both by the mysterious woman and the gracious hostess. In her likeness he created the Hotel Dona Ana in Mozambique as a celebration of her indomitable spirit and seductive persona.
Like her namesake, the Hotel Dona Ana is elegant and gracious. And like her, she is also passionate and full of surprises. Beneath that classic Art Deco exterior lies a fiery Latin temptress. She offers the glamour, sophistication and style of a grande dame with a healthy dash of the spice of life, the rhythm of Africa and the laid back charm of Portugal.
On the white sands of Vilanculos over sixty years ago, Senhor Alves fell in love with Dona Ana. Now, you will too, as she takes you on a journey that will exceed your expectations.

The main hotel boasts 22 rooms, including a Honeymoon suite and two Executive suites. The beach wing boasts 28 classic sea view rooms as well as 1 Garden Suite with separate lounge and bedroom which all open directly onto the sparkling white beach. You can choose from separate or inter-leading rooms as fits your requirements. Hotel Dona Ana Facilities
The iconic Mozambique hotel also features the Cohler restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner offering a traditional Mozambican / Portuguese menu. The hotel also features three bars, namely the Caju pool and snack bar, Seta cocktail bar and the beach wing pool bar, Ocio.
Caju Pool Bar
The Caju pool bar embraces everything that is beautiful about Hotel Dona Ana: effortless elegance, gracious hospitality and boundless sunshine. Set aside the pool, with the Bazaruto Archipelago in the distance, guests can soak up the sun and stunning views while enjoying an array of cocktails and Caju’s light and lovely cuisine.
Colher Restaurant
Each night Colher presents a sultry fusion of Afro-Portuguese a la carte cuisine that is both gracefully presented and unashamedly bold in flavour. Every morning an abundant breakfast buffet is laid out for guest’s enjoyment. Light meals and snacks are also available throughout the day at Hotel Dona Ana’s fine dining restaurant (Dona Ana herself would never have abided a hungry guest). Afro-Portuguese culture embraces children and they are always catered for. Colher offers a children’s menu and the option of a preferential dinner time.
Seta Cocktail Bar
Seta was the nickname given to Senhor Alves; those who knew him well called him the “straight arrow”. Not unlike Senhor Alves, the Seta bar will strike you with its forthright charm and elegance. Here guests can expect exacting service that hits the mark every time. An array of cocktails and beverages plus light meals and snacks can be enjoyed throughout the day.
Ócio Pool Bar
Situated at Dona Ana’s activity centre, the Ócio pool bar is a welcoming meeting place for families and friends. Guests can enjoy refreshments before heading out on an exciting activity, and return again to relax around the pool and replenish with satisfying snacks. Enveloped by exquisite gardens and overlooking the sands of Vilanculos, Ócio also has a unique allure compelling guests to spend their days here at their leisure.
